Principal/Associate Transport Planner
We are currently dealing with a major consultancy who are looking to recruit up to three Transport Planners to assist in the leadership of the current team and support its future growth. The successful individual will be currently working at a top-end senior through to Associate. The role is flexible on location, and would suit candidates in the London, Birmingham, Manchester or Leeds regions.
In terms of background, we are reasonably flexible, but would need people from at least one of the following backgrounds:
- Local government/public sector
- Sustainable travel
- Rail advisory and modelling
- Transportation Modelling/Economics
- Consultancy background
The current team work across various major schemes in both private and public sectors, hence the flexibility of the right background. They would provide advisory services to rail, buses and other schemes, particularly for local authority and rail strategies (such as advising on fare pricing, rolling stock advisory, or people movement).
In the role, you will be primarily supporting the sfe delivery of work packages and projects, as well as proposal developments. furthermore, you will assisting with the technical delivery of rail and transport modelling projects, as well as having project management responsibilities in scheme oversight. You would need to have strong communication and presentation skills, as quite often you will be interacting with major clients, and conducting yourself as the face of the business.
Job description:
- Degree in relevant subject
- Extensive experience with transport modelling software such as CUBE, SATURN, EMME, VISIM/VISSUM/VISSIM
- Experience using spreadheet based models for rail passengers
- Written and reviewed transport modelling reports
- Excellent communicator, both verbal and written
- Excellent knowledge of government transport policies and guidelines
- Experience working with private and public sector clients
- Awareness of industry databases and processes (LENNON, NRPS, NTS etc)
