Rail Senior P6 Planner (Birmingham, Manchester, Doncaster, and York)

**Permanent and Contract**

We are currently working with a major engineering contractor who are looking to expand their teams in all their offices including Birmingham, Manchester, and York by recruit either a P6 Planner or Senior P6 Planner to join the rail team working within the Signalling and Telecoms disciplines with the contractor having long-term frameworks in place with Network Rail.

 

As Senior P6 Planner your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Assist in the development and mentoring of junior project control staff.
• Assist in the Production of project specific Schedule Management Plans as required for approval by the Project Controls Manager.
• Produce periodic Schedule Adherence Reports for review by the Project Controls Manager.
• Ensure all projects are archived in accordance with Project Control Guidance Note Archiving P6 Programmes.
• Participate and provide information as required for Level of Project Control (LOPC) Assessments to be undertaken on projects to which you are assigned.
• Complete project control checklists for all projects to which you are assigned as lead Planner prior to tender settlement, proposed baseline submission and any subsequent re-baselines.
• Ensure appropriate scope management controls are in established and maintained for all projects to which you are assigned as lead Planner.
• Ensure all projects are budget loaded enabling the production of value of work done assessments and detailed value forecasts.
• Ensure all project control information is produced and available for project reviews and all other internal requirements.
• Agree and establish client and other stakeholder reporting requirements for all projects to which you are assigned.
• Establish regular face to face meetings with client counterparts

 

Job requirements:

• HND/HNC level qualifications or relative demonstrable experience.
• Minimum five years of experience in planning infrastructure projects in the rail industry
• Experience of working with project management both internally and in the client organisation.
• Primavera Planning expertise with knowledge and use of other planning tool such as MS Project
• Self-motivated with sound interpersonal and communication skills
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge and awareness of project management methodologies, e.g., APM
• Technical/Engineering background ideally with knowledge of the railway and the latest construction techniques
• Tender experience
• Ongoing competencies and knowledge of planning techniques
• Valid UK driving license
• Excellent communication, presentation, and correspondence skills to represent the company to clients in an appropriate professional manner
• Competent with Microsoft software products including Excel, Microsoft Project, Outlook and Word and reasonable skills with IT tools and the ability to adapt to a variety of client business process reporting tools
• Understanding of health & safety issues in respect of active rail projects

 

As mentioned, this position as Senior P6 Planner is based in any of the following offices: Birmingham, Manchester, York, or Doncaster. There will be a requirement to attend the office a couple of days a week, with the rest of the week spent working remotely.
