Rolling Stock Senior Consultant - Freight

The market leading infrastructure recruitment specialists are supporting a leading International consultancy and are requiring a Rolling Stock Senior Consultant with robust freight experience

Responsibilities:

My client is actively engaged in numerous projects in the kingdom and the larger Gulf region involving the procurement of rolling stock for freight and passengers as well as technical consulting and are looking to expand. They are looking for a technically minded expert with 10 to 15 years of experience working with rolling stock who has a thorough understanding of the systems on rolling stock and its lifecycle (procurement to decommissioning). Robust freight knowledge and experience are required.

The Rolling Stock Senior Consultant will be accountable to the Rolling Stock Technical Manager and will be largely in charge of assisting with all technical analysis, technical service components, and client delivery for our projects that pertain to rolling stock.

Successful candidates should be enthusiastic team players who can adapt their experience and methodology to the particulars of each project. They should also have strong communication skills because they will be expected to collaborate closely with our international colleagues and clients' representatives.

Candidates who intend to remain and advance with our business for the foreseeable future will be given preference.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

Support all aspects of relevant assignments undertaken both internally to the company and for clients including

• Providing technical input to offers, response to tenders, prequalification, etc., planning efforts, technical execution, and close out / produce deliverable
• Analysing and organizing information to determine the best technical solutions, emerging standards & best practices, project requirements and devising / fulfilling the tailored technical approach for rolling stock projects
• Creating / co-authoring professionally written reports, plans, specifications, and process descriptions and ensure their adequate quality
• Observe, inspect, and audit clients' site activities at workshops, manufacturing plants, etc., as necessitated by the projects.
• Maintaining project time frames, budget estimates and status reports
• Be an integral part of the rail team and support the Rolling Stock Technical Manager to deliver the required project outputs for clients. Interfacing with domain assessors, engineers, and other disciplines within the group.
• Proactive attitude to identify business opportunities within the context of technical projects delivery and support business development activities under the guidance of the Rolling Stock Technical Manager.
• Maintain own competence and professional development.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

• Master's degree (or equivalent industry experience), Chartered Engineer qualification is a plus.
• Required 10 (minimum) to 15 years' experience, delivering railway projects, whilst working as technical lead, systems consultancy or operations & maintenance

List of desirable experience (in order of priority):

• Freight experience (operations, maintenance or related projects). Freight operator experience would be seen as beneficial experience (experience in both freight and passenger domains is considered a plus).

• Expert of rolling stock systems / design - Experience in depot / workshop and working with rolling stock such that the individual is well versed with rolling stock systems; this can include inspection / assessor type projects.
• Utilising and applying railways standards namely The Association of American Railroads AAR (preferred) and European Standards.
• Technical feasibility projects, requirements specifications or technical integration between rolling stock and infrastructure systems.
• Investigations, feasibility reports, risk assessing.
• Welding, wagon lining inspections or similar.
• Rolling stock fleet procurement/introduction
• Rolling stock maintenance
• Rolling stock asset management
