What will this role involve?
To build, manage and develop the P&D across Projects Routewide for Rail Systems within the Transpire Alliance, supporting all contracts and projects on Transpire, and to achieve targets and project objectives in respect of team development and staff utilisation. Oversee implementation of the P&D delivery programmes formulated to ensure compliance to relevant safety process and practice
Key accountabilities
You will be
Overseeing a team of construction managers and assistant construction manager from the SCPs ·
Review and input on delivery programmes formulated by SCPs in accordance with project overall objectives including from a cost, safety and schedule perspective. ·
Report of progress of construction programme, planned vs actual and site issues to Snr project team. · Represent the P&D delivery team in ongoing TOC/FOC access negotiations via the project planning specialists. ·
Support the creation and upkeep of the P&D integrated programme working alongside the project controls and planning department. · Input for P&D delivery team in relation to section proposals to ensure forecast spend and budget applications are aligned with proposed construction programme and methodology. ·
Act as interface between construction and design to help ensure design programmes are aligned to the construction programme and report issues as required. ·
To promote safe working practices, ensure full implementation and compliance with safety responsibility statement below. · To deliver the Amey Essentials. ·
Ensuring project compliance with Health and Safety, Environmental and other appropriate regulations such as CDM 2015. · Support accident investigations when remitted to by the relevant designated competent person. · Carry out performance reviews for direct reports, administering poor performance, attendance management and disciplinary procedures as applicable. ·
Managing, coaching and motivating members of the project team. · Identifying and documenting ongoing continuous improvement opportunities. · Identifying and monitoring project risks (threats and opportunities), planning and implementing mitigations to them, and responding to other issues that affect the project. · Supporting post-project reviews. ·
Supporting a formal Handover Plan / Control Plan to transition the ongoing ownership of project-related activities to appropriate business owners. · Capturing information that can assist in documenting any relevant case studies that can be used to support future bids. · Documenting follow-on actions and recommendations. ·
Skills & experience
You will have :
- Competence Profile Essential Skills, Qualifications and Training:
- Time served in an electrical discipline ·
- C&G in electrical installation
- HV knowledge/ experience of cable installation and jointing ·
- Minimum of 10years Railway experience ·
- Working knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015 ·
- Acceptance of Sponsorship · PTS ·

- Personal Track Safety ·
- D&A Screening ·
- SMSTS/IOSH Managing Safely ·
- Project Induction ·
Temporary Works Awareness · The ability to lead the site team in the successful delivery of the allocated contracts for specific discipline · Strong interpersonal skills to influence and communicate effectively with site staff and project team · Understanding of Railway planning systems · Understanding of the Railway operating environment · Environmental Awareness, including sustainability · Railway access & Programme (P6) Awareness/Appreciation · Supervisory Management training / qualification with significant practical experience
Must be able to drive · Computer literacy – Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook ·
Experience of railway construction management for P&D discipline · Working at Height training · D
