As a result of continued growth, I am looking to place a Chartered Structural Engineer within an international design consultancys Bristol office, located not far from the University of Bristol. The firm has an international reputation for undertaking architecturally complex structural design, with creativity at the heart of every design, producing complex and visually stunning results across the healthcare, public-sector, heritage, commercial and retail sectors.
The firm is currently commissioned to work on a range of projects such as the Great Ormond Street Hospital redevelopment, the University of Cambridge campus redevelopment featuring a number of new laboratories, the Palace of Westminster refurbishment with previous work in the Bristol area including Musgrove Park Hospital refurbishment, the Hadyn Ellis Medical Research Building, Gloucester Bus Station, and more.
The firm requires a Chartered Structural Engineer, ideally Chartered within the last few years, to work out of their Bristol office. You will manage your own small team of graduates and a couple of technicians, whilst also managing your own time and resources on a wide variety of design projects. The role will incorporate architecturally-led and creative design work, as well as mentoring your own small team of junior/gradate engineers and ensuring they are meeting required standards in both their design work and professional development.
You will have the opportunity to oversee projects from feasibility through to handover, taking a lead role in the design process, as well as ensuring relevant clients/stakeholders are kept up to date with any design changes, constructability issues and relaying design update requirements to other engineers and technicians. The firm also takes many projects through to construction, so there will be opportunities to collaborate with main contractors on design and build projects.
Due to the sign-off duties associated with this role, all candidates will need to hold Chartered Engineer status through either the IStructE (Institute of Structural Engineers) or the ICE (Institute of Civil Engineers), or within reach of attaining Chartered status in short order.
In return for the right design, management and client liaison skills the firm can offer a very competitive salary and a range of benefits to suit your lifestyle, with the opportunity to join a well-established and growing team with a wide variety of projects and opportunities for the future.
