Description:

The Senior Commissioning Engineer will lead commissioning engineers in bringing sections of the national FTN/GSMR network into service as directed by the Commissioning Manager. The candidate will liaise with other departments to ensure completion of site enabling, antenna & rigging, cable termination and detailed design documentation in order to support the commissioning plan. They will accept sites as ready for commissioning from the construction project managers, while supervising the implementation by commissioning engineers of new equipment onto the infrastructure. They will enable the appropriate degree of testing and commissioning of the new equipment as appropriate and provide direct line management to deal with staff issues relating to HR, holiday, health and safety, training / technical competence and quality. The candidate will also support the Commissioning & Operations Manager to deliver to the project manager concise and complete results and as-built documentation to support hand back to the network maintainer.

Essential
* Significant experience in engineering disciplines, ideally with involvement in construction and design projects across multi discipline areas
* Technical qualifications to at least HND level or equivalent
* Membership of a relevant professional institution
* Experience of major contracting
* Knowledge of structuring safety cases in support of projects
* Knowledge of safety management and quality assurance
* Understanding of the arrangements required for the independent assessment of works
* Accident investigation experience

Desirable
* Six Sigma Yellow Belt
* Chartered status or equivalent in the particular discipline
* Appreciation of environmental issues in engineering works
