A well-known international Tier 1 major contractor is looking to develop a team of Senior Contracts Director for Australia - Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane. The Senior Contracts Director will manage all Delivery Partner and Alliance / collaborative contract activities for a Division, a major market segment, or for a project of significant size, and represents the Company in negotiations of the most-complex contractual issues. He/she must be fully knowledgeable of all legal, business, financial, and long-term implication of prime contract negotiation and maintenance.

Education/Experience:

The Contracts Director will hold a Law or Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, Quantity Surveying or related field, and typically 20+ years of prime contract administration experience within a large international engineering and construction firm is required.

Skills/Competences:

Requires a comprehensive knowledge of industry business practices and the negotiation of prime contracts and delivery partner agreements. Incumbent must also possess strong written and oral communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and a working knowledge of PC software packages typically associated with contract administration. Must be capable of independently negotiating the most-complex contractual issues. Proven ability for managing and directing work involving complex situations.


Position Overview

Manages all Delivery Partner and Alliance / collaborative contract activities for a Division, a major market segment, or for a project of significant size, and represents the Company in negotiations of the most-complex contractual issues. He/she must be fully knowledgeable of all legal, business, financial, and long-term implication of prime contract negotiation and maintenance. Travel to the client's offices or to the project site may be required, either before the contract receives final approval or during the life of the contract.

This senior-level role is responsible for leading the development of prime contracts and delivery partnership agreements across their state in Australia. Your leadership will reflect our culture and our values, driving forward our vision with a focus on positive outcomes.

You will engage with the relevant sector leaders and client leadership across infrastructure and transportation of mega projects to help develop and convert a pipeline of opportunities. We would be expecting you to lead these major programmes and support the development of a team of credible contracts professionals to widen the client base.

A key part of the role will be to create best practice delivery partner models to create a differentiated offer and then position this offer in the market through external profiling and thought leadership with support from the sector leaders and our marketing team.

Specific Responsibilities:

Negotiates the most significant contracts or contract modifications, often under difficult conditions. Draws upon broad prior experience to effectively negotiate the most favor terms and conditions with prospective and current clients while achieving Company objectives. Identifies risks and contractual terms not conforming to Company policy.

Participates in Division, Company, and Corporate strategic planning activities for specific projects (e.g., risk assessment, bid/no bid analysis, participation in business plan development, etc.).
Drive the growth and nurturing of key client and partner relationships and to influence and impact the growth and direction of our service offering.
Lead major programmes of work from the front and build and lead high performing team for formation of major contract and delivery partnership agreements
Lead by example with good people management skills, be team-oriented with the ability to work closely with peers and have the ability to motivate and empower individuals and teams.

Selects personnel, makes staffing assignments, supervises work produced to ensure consistent high-quality performance. Provides training and development for personnel assigned.

Maintains an active participation in related professional societies to keep abreast of relevant contractual issues.

Keeps subordinates up to date relative to the availability of resource materials dealing with current contract administration and negotiation issues.

Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
