Our client is seeking a full time Senior Ecologist to play an integral role in the development and implementation of their Environmental Strategy. As Senior Ecologist you will establish, manage and develop ecological management strategies, plans and resources across the company. You will ensure senior management is kept informed of the ecological status of our active sites and be experienced in data collation and technical report-writing

POSITION OVERVIEW

• Establish and manage ecology resources within the company
• Develop the companies ecological management strategies, plans and budget costs as required
• Lead and provide expertise in aspects of ecological conservation.
• Undertake ecological surveying and logistics planning at a variety of sites, as required
• Produce Ecological Impact Assessment, undertake Habitat Regulations Assessments and undertake protected species surveys and report as required
• Ecological data collation, analysis, monitoring and reporting
• Present and advise on protective ecological actions/measures. Implement, monitor and evaluate measures as agreed, providing periodic updates.
• Advise on habitat management and wildlife legislation as required. Notify senior management of any changes in environmental legislation, and update company policies, procedures, etc. where required.
• Line manage, mentor and support the professional development of junior member/s of the team.
• Work flexibly and be receptive and adaptable to a changing environment within a growing Company.

REQUIREMENTS

• Degree in Environment/Ecology-related subject
• Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM)
• Significant recent experience as an Ecologist or Senior Ecologist
• Substantial experience in producing ecological surveys, including habitat identification
• Holds a PTS card (desirable)
• Experience of working in the rail or similar industry (desirable)
