We are currently dealing with a client organization working on the new High Speed Rail project who are looking to expand their Mobile Plant Management and Maintenance team by hiring a Senior Engineer in Birmingham.

The suitable candidate will be part of a small, regularly communicating team who are operating on a remote hybrid basis, being required to be present in the office 2 days a week.

The responsibilities of this role include:

• Co-ordinating and delivering the technical, operational and maintenance requirements for mobile plant and to deliver management and maintenance of mobile plant used along the planned route.
• Maintenance of route-wide Infrastructure and mobile plant including On-Track Machines, On-Track Plant and portable small plant.
• Developing specifications and scope documentation.
• Reviewing Engineering Drawings.
• The procurement/purchasing of plant equipment.
• Pushing boundaries developing infrastructure maintenance protocols.
• Supporting the development and implementation of the infrastructure maintenance depots and supporting bases.
• Working with a fleet of 20 vehicles including but not limited to cherry pickers and cranes.
• Responsible for developing the Mobile Plant Product Acceptance requirements in line with the wider Product Acceptance process.
• Responsible for the development of technical, operational and maintenance requirements for mobile plant to be used across the planned route.

The job requirements of the suitable candidate are:

• Able and willing to travel to Birmingham where the OTM Project is based (Travel is paid for by the client).
• A valid passport and ability/willingness to travel to manufacturing locations abroad.
• Experienced in maintenance of Mobile Plant, Traction, Rolling Stock or On-Track Machines (OTMs).
• Background in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
• 5+ Years experience in the Rail Industry and good knowledge of its operations and safety standards.
• Experience of working in infrastructure maintenance, asset management or asset engineering teams, particularly where mobile plant or traction and rolling stock were being managed.

As previously stated, this role is operating on a remote hybrid basis based in Birmingham, so could be suitable for candidates based in Coventry, Leicester, Nottingham or Derby.
