After a highly successful 2021 despite the pandemic, this award-winning client is searching to strengthen its Northern Hub by onboarding an experienced Drainage Engineer on a permanent basis. Specifically, we would like to hear from Senior or Principal Drainage Engineers in the Manchester region who have an interest to develop their skills in the Water and Flooding industry.
You will be joining an established and specialist team who work on projects throughout the UK in the Flood and Water sectors. The main function of the role would be to support the Associate Engineer with their projects, and assist the in delegating and reviewing work, as well as mentoring and guiding more junior staff.
In the role, alongside supporting some management tasks, you will be involved in various technical and client-facing aspects. The job description includes, but is not limited to:
- Producing Flood Risk Assessments
- Producing Drainage strategies
- Model and Review existing drainage networks
- Seeking solutions for flood-prone areas
- Design of SUDs
- Stakeholder/client meetings and engagement
- Reviewing work produced by junior staff to ensure quality control
Working from Manchester, you will have exposure to Flood and Water projects across the whole of the UK. Working closely with public-sector clients and local authorities, you must ensure you are a clear communicator and confident presenter. Typical projects may include town centre enhancements with focus on SUDs and alleviating surface-water flooding, feasibility studies, sewer system designs, and flood risk assessments.

- You are Chartered or soon approaching
- Have experience in drainage design with local authorities or private sector clients
- Have experience with attenuation measures, pollution controls and SUDs
- Knowledge of the DMRB
- Experience managing junior staff
- Experience with MicroDrainage/WinDes or PDS
- You have an interest to grow personally and develop your skillset in a technical or managerial position
