Senior Geophysicist in Nottingham, United Kingdom

Are you an Experienced Engineering Geophysicist looking to work on engineering projects that can change our world, projects that are always more complex and innovative than the last?

Are you a technical specialist with who wants to develop their existing career?

If so we are looking for an experienced Geophysicist to join our team. You would be working not only with a team of likeminded geophysicists, but with our clients both collecting and interpreting data, working across a broad range of work areas including projects to support amongst others, Power, Highways, Rail, Air, Ports, Housing and Defence sectors.

The role is based out of our Nottingham Office, sitting within our Geophysics team. You will be joining a team of like-minded experts that have a passion for innovation and delivering cutting edge solutions.

AECOM plays a critical role in the conceptualisation and creation of amazing spaces, delivering projects and buildings that define skylines and communities. We are also a leading part of the change to a sustainable future through engineering projects which make a difference to our environment.

We are friendly, busy and motivated with an established track record of successfully delivering both local and overseas projects

About Our Team:

Our Geophysics team is a growing team who operate across all sectors of the engineering industry, primarily in the UK but have had teams on site in almost all continents globally. We work under the umbrella of RAM (Rail Asset Management) which as well as specialist rail teams, includes other cross discipline teams like GI and Geospatial Engineering, based primarily out of our Nottingham office where we have equipment, fleet and laboratory facilities to support our field operations.

Our projects typically form small (but we like to think crucial) parts of the many major infrastructure projects which AECOM work on, primarily providing in-house surveys and investigations and specialist advice with an emphasis on collaboration to provide our clients with solutions which best suit their needs. This benefits both our clients from timely specialist advice and increased familiarity with geophysical tools and us by the knowledge gained through engagement with our technical specialists and the feedback and calibration information which supports continuous improvement.

Job Responsibilities:

Your primary role will be to manage and undertake geophysical investigations across a range of infrastructure projects. You would be expected to undertake surveys, processing and interpretation in a broad range of environments with a full suite of geophysical equipment and provide mentoring, training and support to more junior staff members.

The expectation is that you would perform site operations across the UK and potentially abroad. This would be balanced with completion of operational paperwork, data interpretation, CAD and production of written reports with the aim, where possible of seeing projects through from beginning to end.

You would be expected to attain sign off as a site lead for these surveys, providing safety briefings and completing safety and operational paperwork to support your colleagues and where necessary providing supervision of contractors.

Qualifications

  • A broad practical experience of undertaking geophysical surveys using near surface techniques.
  • Experience of investigations in a range of environments including: transportation infrastructure, environmental surveys, structural NDT, UXO, Archaeology, geotechnical investigations and buried utilities would all be considered highly valuable.

Preferred Qualifications:
