The role

Due to increased workload we are seeking to recruit a Senior Systems (Telecoms) Engineer. The successful candidate will undertake and oversee production of Telecoms design, working within a Telecoms engineering team. In addition, they will manage elements of a Telecoms project. This role will offer the opportunity for the right candidate to innovate and use the latest technology to develop themselves and the projects they work on. We are continuously working hard to collaborate with clients and sub-contracts to ensure we are successful in the objective of improving the world we live in.

In a typical week you will:

* Plan surveys and lead site survey teams

* Undertake and manage design work for Telecoms design elements of projects and check the work of others

* Undertake CDM/CSM/risk analyses

* Check designs to ensure all contractual requirements have been satisfied to a level that complies with FTN, NR, RSSB and British standards

* Develop and mentor graduate and engineers towards UK Spec IEng/CEng

* Be able to recognise changes to the scope, that will affect cost and programme; be aware of process for reporting the change to the project manager and provide resource estimates for electrical power/telecoms engineering input to tenders

Skills & experience

• Achieved or working towards CEng / IEng status (or equivalent), plus 3 years post qualification experience in a relevant engineering area or MEng/BEng (or equivalent) degree and significant relevant experience, confirmed using the authority to work process
• Experience with Operational Telecommunications, Station information and Security Systems (SISS) and SCADA Telecoms A current IRSE Telecoms Designer License
• The ability to use Bentley products (MicroStation and ProjectWise)
• The ability to demonstrate a sound understanding of the design process, network rail's technical approvals process and engineering management
• The ability to undertake design work for electrical power/telecoms design elements of projects and check the work of others
• A working knowledge of BIM and be able to assist others in the use of BIM
• An understanding of the interfaces between all railway disciplines and how these are managed
