We’re looking for a Senior Technical Officer for a 12-month contract role with Network Rail based in Stockport. This role will include some night and weekend work.

As a Senior Technical Officer, you will:

• Carry out work safely and in accordance with the safe systems of work procedures, method statements, plans and other instructions.
• Adhere to company policies and procedures
• Manage and check the quality of work delivered and confirm assets are compliant to standards.
• Manage the preparation of work and resource specifications, method statements and plans.
• Provide technical support and guidance.
• Design, install, test and commission equipment.
• Undertake and supervise technical tasks, survey and design work.
• Undertake technical inspections, tests, investigations and analysis of technical data.
• Prioritise work arising and agree work plans for the group.
• Prepare specifications and requisition for materials.
• Manage processes and systems for the calibration and certification of tools and equipment.
• Manage information to update systems, databases and records.
• Contribute to your own development and that of others

You will:

• Have track experience & rail technical experience, including Stressing Level 2 competencies
• Hold PTS
• Have good general IT skills – MS Office inc. Excel and Word.
• Have knowledge and experience of electrification and plant maintenance and construction management process, systems and standards.
• Have knowledge of design requirements, processes and techniques.
• Be able to demonstrate, promote and embed safe working behaviours within the team.
• Be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Be able to coach, influence and develop others.
• Ideally hold or be working towards and NVQ level 2 or 3 (or equivalent) in an engineering/leadership subject.
• Have a valid UK driving licence and be able and willing to drive vehicles as required by business need.
