Environmental Advisor Social Value
Derby or Leicester
We are currently working with one of the UKs leading rail contractors who are looking to expand their Derby or Leicester offices by hiring a Social Value Environmental Advisor to join their team. As Social Value Advisor you will be responsible for leading Network Rail community relations events, liaising with the project community liaison team in managing stakeholder communications, and community investment opportunities.

We are currently working with one of the UKs leading rail contractors who are looking to expand their Derby or Leicester offices by hiring a Social Value Environmental Advisor to join their team. As Social Value Advisor you will be responsible for leading Network Rail community relations events, liaising with the project community liaison team in managing stakeholder communications, and community investment opportunities.
As Social Value Environmental Advisor your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Leading NR community relations events liaising with the project community liaison team in managing stakeholder communications, and community investment opportunities.
- Ensuring all works assigned by the SPL Head of Environment and Sustainability are completed in a timely manner.
- Planning community events, STEM Ambassador events etc.
- Identifying opportunities for innovation and best practice, and document achievements a sustainability case study.
- Any other duties required to facilitate project planning and management.
- Community Engagement & Social Value across the regional businesses.
- Promoting SV ensuring all regionally based staff understand the SV Policy and strategy.
- Developing a bespoke social value response for each tender bid as required.
- Monitoring scoring and feedback from bid submissions to ensure improvement.
- Assisting HR with Employment and Skills delivery focussing on employment, education, communities, and communication.
- Providing adequate and relevant support to site teams to deliver contractual commitments and added social value, including engaging with the local voluntary sector, charity organisations and EBPs.
- Monitoring and report on activity and achievement in line with Key Performance Indicators on projects.
- Working in partnership with our procurement teams to improve our approach to working with SMEs and Social Enterprises.
- Ensuring effective SV communication methods are in place for the regions (newsletter, social media, emails).
- Attending relevant industry events.
- Organisational contact for Partner Organisations, Charities and Voluntary Organisations.
- Complying with company policy and procedure.
- Following companys Equalities policies in relation to other staff, customers and members of the Group.
- Working as part of Project teams with the Project Managers to deliver monthly reports and meet contractual obligations.
- Using the companies chosen social value software and data collection tools.
- Carry out any other reasonable tasks as requested by the line manager which are for the best interest of the company.
- Communicate in a positive manner with the HSQE teams.
- Proactive & positive attitude whilst working as part of the HSQE team.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Intermediate knowledge of Excel.
- Ability to network and communicate in a friendly and effective manner with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to negotiate, persuade and influence.
- Ability to work and interface with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work within multiple teams.
- Adapt to change as required to assist the project teams.
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- Excellent organisation skills.
- Knowledgeable of the Social Value Act (2012).
- Contributing to continuous improvement.
- Ability to drive and travel as required for the role.
- Minimum of 2 years experience delivering social value elements is required.
