Soil Scientist (Birmingham, Cardiff, Bristol)
We are currently dealing with a major engineering consultancy who are looking to expand their Buildings and Cities Unit (BNC) teams in Birmingham, Cardiff, and Bristol by recruiting a Soil Scientist. The soil team carries out soil surveys and agriculture /soil related services for small projects to nationally significant infrastructure projects to our diverse clients, including the Environment Agency, Network Rail, Highways England, HS2, private developers, utility companies and local authorities .As a Chartered Soil Scientist, you will be working closely with a multi-disciplinary team including ground engineers, landscape architects, ecologists, and other environmental technical specialists to provide soil support. We offer agile working so the role will be a mixture of office, home and site based depending on workload, and location is flexible.
As Soil Scientist your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

As Soil Scientist your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Undertaking soil resource and agricultural land classification surveys
- Preparing soil management plans and other soil related work, e.g., onsite soil supervision
- Producing soil and /or agriculture-related technical reports
- Communicating soil science information to project teams, clients, and other stakeholders
- Working with our engineering, environmental and project management teams to develop sustainable and environmentally beneficial solutions to infrastructure schemes
- First degree in a relevant environmental subject, soil science preferred
- Chartered with relevant professional body
- At least 5 - 10 years experience of undertaking soil surveys with proven track record
- Proficient in agricultural land classification
- Willingness to travel to sites across the UK as and when required
- Enthusiasm for business development activities
- MSc in relevant subject e.g. soil science (Desirable)
- Competent in the use of Arc GIS (Desirable)
