This is an exciting time for rail in New Zealand, with a significant investment programme for asset upgrades and new infrastructure throughout the country. We've got some great projects underway and we're looking ahead at long term investment plans for New Zealand's national rail system.

This is a senior role supporting the General Manager Engineering, and the wider network infrastructure business with overall strategic direction, and technical engineering expertise to deliver a world class rail network and outstanding customer outcomes. Working collaboratively across the business areas you will lead our technical engineering excellence, representing and engaging with internal and external Customers to ensure the best possible business and reputational outcomes. You will set the strategic technical direction for Network Infrastructure and take a leadership role with the development of our technical engineering professionals within the engineering team. You will champion the centre of excellence, providing expertise in best practice design and engineering standards with the ongoing review and implementation of technical and principle standards and risk management.

Bringing your extensive previous success in rail engineering and civil infrastructure, you will have an excellent understanding of best practice asset management principles. You will have proven experience developing and implementing standards and codes within a rail environment and have lead engineering technical teams in a similar environment. Combining a collaborative working style with an ability to influence outcomes, your knowledge, experience and opinions are well received and respected. Naturally you will be an excellent communicator both written and verbal and hold an engineering degree, ideally Chartered with IPENZ (CPEng).

We will work with the successful applicant to assist with relocation and Visa’s for New Zealand.
