Primary Purpose:
Reporting directly to the Senior Officer, Systems and Electrical, the Technical Officer (Electrical) will be responsible for supporting and assisting with the delivery of 24/7 Business Critical Works for the Client. The post holder will also provide a full supportive service to members of Asset Management maintenance and project teams and must be able to prioritise any work requests while utilising the internal labour force or external resources as appropriate. The post holder will ensure that all functions within the role are delivered on time, within budget and conforms to any team objectives.
Job specification:
1. Putting customers (internal and external) at the heart of everything you do.
2. The delivery of relevant outcomes/outputs in accordance with service level agreements with key clients to ensure maximum levels of customer satisfaction
3. To identify areas which are a cause for concern and produce solutions to ensure statutory compliance is maintained
4. Monitor performance of suppliers and contractors to ensure they are conforming to legislative requirements
5. To ensure optimum availability of the Clients assets during business critical works
6. Understanding and meeting all health and safety duties and responsibilities including ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
7. Ensuring adherence to the clients ISO 18001 Safety Management System.
8. Follow health and safety instructions and complying with safe systems of work
9. Support development and implementation of technology enhancements
10. Effective prioritisation of activities and time management
11. Agreeing budgets, timescales and specifications with Clients
12. Effective use to record faults and incidents.
13. Liaising with team members, contractors, design teams.
14. Assisting Senior Management in the continuous review of the delivery of your team
15. Reviewing and amending your working methods to improve your service and performance and setting standards.
16. Provision of service delivery data to internal departments and external customers in accordance with deadlines.
17. Undertaking quarterly performance reviews with line management and meet defined KPIs.
Experience, Qualification Skills & Competencies
Essential
* Some experience of working in electrical engineering in a multi-location buildings estate.
* Being commercially aware, manage external suppliers delivery and performance to meet financial, quality and programme commitments.
* Ability to manage electrical plant via specialised computer based systems such as SCADA, TEAM and TREND.
* A relevant degree, or HNC with minimum 3 years associated experience.
* Working towards a professional membership of a relevant Institutional body
* Ability to record, interpret, analyse and implement test data.
* Fully conversant with all DDA, Health and Safety and Environmental legislation and Codes of Practice.
* Ability to understand detailed technical documentation and implement work requirements
* Have an electrical engineering background
* Ability to take initiative to respond to emergency issues as they arise, determination to deliver and to work to deadlines.
* Computer literate with a high degree of ICT skills and the ability to configure modify and use a variety of PC based tools, including AutoCAD.
* Educated to IEE 17th Edition Wiring
* Regulations, current version.
* Organisation skills to liaise with client departments
* Full Clean Driving Licence
Desirable
* Knowledge of commercial, financial and budgetary controls, standing orders, financial and statutory regulations.
* Knowledge and understanding of the computer based asset management system for managing the maintenance of Assets
* Flexible approach to work.
* Knowledge and understanding of the requirements for AP and SAP roles in HV switching operations.
* Excellent co-ordination and communication skills
* Rail Experience.
