Train Operations Safety Strategy Advisor , internally called Assistant Strategy Implementation Manager

About the team

Leading Health and Safety on Britain's Railway (LHSBR) is the rail industry’s health and safety strategy. Developed by leaders across a range of rail sectors, this strategy sets out the challenges and activities which need collaborative approaches to deliver a better, safer and healthier railway across Great Britain. LHSBR identifies 12 key risk areas where safety and health performance need to be improved. Refreshed in 2020, LHSBR recommends tangible ways to improve and innovate, making railways safer and healthier for all. The key to success is working together and making commitments to achieve future improvements through industry groups that monitor and help implement mitigations across the 12 risk areas. While we are proud to work on one of the safest rail networks in the world, performance has deteriorated in some areas. There are concerns which need to be urgently addressed around operational risks, as well as workforce safety and wellbeing. Ultimately, a healthier workforce will deliver a safer railway. The Directorate’s main role is therefore in the delivery of the LHSBR strategy. To ensure the strategy is being implemented effectively, the LHSBR Executive Advisory Group (LEAG) has been set up to act on behalf of the RSSB Board.
