Associate Mechanical Engineer in London, London, United Kingdom
The company is looking for an Associate Mechanical Engineer based out of our companies Headquarters in London. As one of the team members you will be contributing to the technical delivery of a wide range of international infrastructure projects. You will have the opportunity to provide input to all stages of the project lifecycle, from inception through to design, construction, and operation.
You will be working under the guidance of senior team members to deliver and review design calculations, technical specifications, datasheets, reports, and other deliverables in accordance with international standards and client requirements. Additionally, you will also have an opportunity to work closely with the clients and be able to develop project management skills.
Your role will be office based; however, you will have an opportunity to visit sites around the world to see the progress of the projects you are involved with.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting with the technical development and execution of infrastructure projects.
- Review project feasibility studies, produce reports and databases summarising technical scope.
- Create tender packs (Specifications, Standards, Datasheets) for suppliers and subcontractors. Review bids for technical compliance.
- Engage and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to develop their solutions for the project.
- Undertaking design review after sub-contract award. Ensure compliance with Contract Specifications and Standards. Identify any weakness or errors in the design that could jeopardise project execution. Ensure HSE best practices are always followed.
- Where required undertake basic mechanical design/sizing (HVAC, power gen, pump systems etc) including design checks.
- Management of design registers, meeting minutes, drawing registers etc.as appropriate in line with project requirements. Ensure all formal communication is undertaken and managed (Requests For Information, Technical Queries from site etc.)
- Liaison with manufacturers to determine product suitability, in partnership with procurement. Attendance at FAT and SAT (and any other required stage) to ensure compliance with requirements.
- Direct liaison with installation teams to ensure design suitability, works methodology and solve key installation issues/constructability.
What we are looking for:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering (ideally MEng) with interest in becoming Chartered
- 2 to 5 years experience working in a Mechanical Engineering role on Infrastructure Projects such as Rail, Highway or Water
- Familiar with the use of Specifications, Datasheets, Industry Standards
- Knowledge of project phases and processes and associated compliance
- Advanced MS Office skills including Excel
- Possess strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Be personable, approachable, enthusiastic, and empathetic
- Demonstrate commitment to collaboration, learning and team working
- Communicate clearly in English, both orally and in writing
- Be organised, disciplined, and show a structured and consistent approach to your way of working
