The Engineer – Mechanical Installations will be involved in all technical activities related with the mechanical installations design of the rolling stock. This extends from requirements management, through design, produce purchasing specifications and technical documentation, support material procurement, customer interfacing during design review process, and support industrialisation activities.
For this duty, the Electrical Engineer in UK will work closely with the company’s headquarters engineers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To develop and delivery of high quality engineering design work for allocated design packages of various parts of Mechanical Installations like underframe & roof equipment assembly, electrical cabinets and inter-car connections, within defined timescales.
- Work closely with other project engineers to ensure proper coordination to achieve overall design integrity.
- Ensure designs are compliant to customer and legislative requirements, including design review and design verification and validation process.
- Management of outsourcing engineering (3D/2D design development)
- Support customer design review process (produce technical documentation and attend design review meetings)
- Work with suppliers to ensure designs are fit for purpose.
- Adapt current product solutions and develop new designs.
- Solve problems by taking a new perspective on existing solutions.
- Supports industrialization and production teams during manufacturing ramp-up, commissioning and train service.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
- HND in Electrical Engineering.
- Previous experience in a similar role in railway (rolling stock) design and develop various mechanical installations parts, either new build, retro-fitment, modification or refurbishment, including the ability to understand the inputs required to support the development of a successful design, and the ability to produce designs which accommodate the product life cycle (manufacture, install, test, operate, maintain, remove, dispose).
- Good knowledge of CAD design tools (CATIA V5 o newer).
- Availability for frequent travelling within the UK and other European offices.
