Job Title: Estimator – Electrical and Mechanical

Salary: £34,123 - £45,066 depending on skills and experience
Permanent | Full Time Hours | 37 hours per week
Our Role
The main purpose of the role is to prepare analytical estimates for projects to be used within the tender bid. Establishing key relationships with Clients, Supply Chain and the project delivery team, you’ll be required to attend meetings, negotiate and record all changes to the tender price required post tender. You’ll attend project start-up meetings and make site visits. You’ll produce enquiry schedules for scope of works and packages required from the tender documentation, drawings and specifications issued and identify tender deliverables required from the Client, Client Project Team and Project Designers.
With strong numerate skills, you’ll evaluate returned quotations from suppliers and where necessary enter into correspondence with suppliers to bring quotations in line with the project specification requirements. You’ll prepare Bill of Quantities for scopes of projects on estimating programs (such as Excel, PEST, Amtech). You’ll attend tender price and handover meetings in the presence of the Pre-Contract team and facilitate successful development of solutions to problems. Working with the Operations team, you’ll ensure budgets and programs are reflective of actual delivery experience. With strong attention to detail you’ll review tender documents assessing scope, risks involved, tender complexity and provide feedback to Head of Pre-Contract.
Your Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role you’ll be an experienced, self-sufficient Estimator with experience of Rail Projects with Electrical, Mechanical, E&P and High Voltage requirements. You’ll have experience with various Forms of Contract, such as JCT and NEC, relevant to M&E and E&P works and experience in Design & Build as well as other standard construction types of construction work
You’ll be a strong communicator and be proficient in the use of Microsoft office packages and estimating software. Site experience would be an advantage.
You’ll be able to demonstrate you have experience in pricing M&E and E&P projects within a rail environment and have proven successful estimating experience in electrical and mechanical engineering. Ideally, you’ll have experience in providing prices to a variety of rail clients including Network Rail, London Underground, Train Operating Companies, Freight Operating Companies and private sector clients.
