My client has an opportunity for an Estimator, M & E based in London on a contract basis to start immediately. As the Estimator you will works closely with the Senior Estimator, bid team, suppliers and technical departments within the client to seek out new opportunities. The Estimator is required to produce analytical cost estimates that reflect the programme, methodology and risk profile developed by the bid team. The Estimator should be able to identify the need for and call for support that may be required to produce the estimate. The Estimator will be required to work with JV staff as required. The Estimator should have a good understanding of the UK civil engineering market and be aware of the main forms of Contract used and the significance of these contracts in terms of the risks that need to be addressed in the tender. You will support the estimating team for a major rail project. Your Key responsibilities will be to: -

The initiating and leading tasks and processes, taking responsibility and being accountable, where relevant, for the work and roles of others whilst exercising broad autonomy and judgement within broad parameters in their area of responsibility.

Specialist learning and involves detailed analysis of a high level of information and knowledge in an area of work or study

  • Maintain own awareness of current requirements and future developments of Health, Safety and Environmental law affecting construction.
  • Production of documents for inclusion within the tender.
  • Ensures that all supplier / subcontractor enquiries are sent out in accordance with the Supply Chain Strategy document.
  • Prices from first principals for Electrical, Mechanical, Public Health and other associated systems as applicable.
  • Maintain own knowledge base of the clients working practices and industry as a whole and assist development of other estimating staff
  • Help identify the supply chain based on an informed and well-developed understanding of the market.
  • Manage the production of papers for use in tender gate ways.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of commercial, technical, legal and insurance matters as they apply to our market.
  • Maintains record of all tender documents received from the client and suppliers in accordance with the department procedures
  • Follows the department procedures for the production of all estimates.

Supports as applicable the Senior Estimator / Chief Estimator and Joint Venture staff in the production of the detailed estimate
