The Opportunity

Working with one of our reputable clients within rail, we are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a thriving and busy company to work on some major new build projects. As an integral part of the engineering function you will have the opportunity to work on some industry leading projects and further develop your technical and commercial skillset within design engineering.

Location (s): Mansfield

Role and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for ensuring designs meet customers' requirements and mandatory compliance.
• Preparation of design calculations and FE Analysis for approvals and design verification.
• Build and manage 3D models, the production of part lists and manufacturing engineering drawings in line with company quality requirements.
• Achieving deadlines for the procurement of materials
• Produce designs of products that can be manufactured efficiently and economically creating value.
• Provide support to production, purchasing, and other departments.
• The attendance of meetings on and off site.
• Continuous improvement of the Design Department function.

The Candidate

You will need to have demonstrable mechanical design experience in industry ideally within Solidworks CAD packages as this is the predominant software used. Working alongside a design team with decades of experience between them, you will need to integrate quickly and robustly. Workload is varied and with several new build projects in the pipeline, the successful candidate needs to keep up with the pace and capabilities of a demanding, busy environment.

Essentials

• A minimum of 5 years' experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer
• Solidworks/CAD experience
• A relevant qualification in a Mechanical Engineering discipline.
• The ability to provide technically sound design solutions.
• Knowledge and experience with fabrication and manufacturing drawings, with excellent understanding of design for manufacture.
• Able to build and develop both internal and external relationships.
• Experience with Solidworks, mechanical hand calculations and FE software will be advantageous.
• IT Literate - Microsoft Office Applications.
