The Opportunity
Working with an established rail organisation in the heart of Derby, who provide depot-based operational services to the UK rail sector, I am seeking a Mechanical Engineer to hit the ground running in a fully immersive role.

This is a great opportunity for a developing engineer to get fully involved in an all-encompassing mechanical engineering position which will allow full access to all project elements and mechanical design. Working with reputable engineers and directors you will be supported and developed to build upon your mechanical and industry knowledge.

Location (s): Derby

Role and Responsibilities:

• Detailed mechanical engineering analysis of train systems and components and “own” assigned train systems to be the technical expert on those functions.
• Creation of specification documents for maintenance and overhaul activities
• Manage detail of engineering change.
• Developing and maintaining a good working relationship with 3rd party OEMs and suppliers.
• Support implementation of strategies for the maintenance regime to increase the performance of the fleet.
• Mechanical design projects

The Candidate

The ideal will be a degree educated engineer with an appreciation of a variety of mechanical systems. You will be integrated quickly within a close-knit engineering function so the ability to liaise with colleagues from shop floor through to director level is imperative to establish credibility and reputation.

This role is perfect for an individual who wants to excel their technical skills whilst establishing themselves within the rail market. You will need to be a self-starter who is able to self-organise and challenge the status quo.

Essentials

• BEng / MEng Mechanical or relevant experience
• 3 years’ industry engineering experience within rail
• Experience with design analysis tools including Solid Edge, DFMEA.
• Must possess good verbal and written communication skills and be self-driven to move product life cycle forward.
