We are working with a global engineering business that are looking for a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to assist in leading their MEP team. As our client can be flexible, you will have the option to work in either Manchester, York or Birmingham on a hybrid basis.

It will be your duty to lead the team of Engineers and act as the CRE on projects allocated to you by the Discipline Lead.

Principal responsibilities:

• Ensuring projects are completed to meet all client’s requirements and within budget
• Play a key role in planning the project works and providing forward view resource forecasting to enable the team leader to allocate suitable resource to the projects.
• Assist in leading the training and development needs of the mechanical team

Key skills/experience required:

• Proven previous experience and expertise in managing complex and/or non-standard design solutions.
• Expert in mechanical services design within the built environment or transport infrastructure including HVAC, Public Health, Building Physics and BIM
• Strong knowledge of multi-disciplinary issues associated with M&E and building services
• Strong communicator with good presentation skills
• Previous experience managing a team of Mechanical engineers is highly desirable

Qualifications:

• Minimum HNC qualified in Mechanical Engineering or demonstrable equivalent experience.
• Chartered Engineer (desirable)
