Rolling Stock Fitter in United Kingdom
Samuel Knight are urgently searching for experienced fitters / engineers to maintain and operate a fleet of specialist On Track Maintenance Machines for a leading Rail Operator.
As an accomplished fitter with experience in either HGVs, Heavy Plant, Military Vehicles, Aircraft or Rolling Stock you will be responsible for carrying out servicing, maintenance and fault finding to ensure our client’s fleet is safe and reliable for usage.
The role will encompass working across the UK in order to meet operational demand, meaning the ability to travel & lodge for up to 21 days per assignment is required. (1 weeks paid rest leave is rostered in every 4 weeks and transport, accommodation and living allowance are all paid for by the company)

DUTIES
- Maintaining the machine safely and effectively, as instructed by the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Reporting any machine defects or Maintenance Supervisor, where appropriate.
- Collating the data output from the machine where applicable.
- To work safely and effectively to Operations procedures.
- Assist in maintaining quality systems, machine safety packs and stabling database by continually monitoring, reviewing and making recommendations for updating as required
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING:
- Recognised formal apprenticeship in Mechanical, Electrical engineering
- Prior experience working on the following: Rolling Stock, HGVs, Heavy Plant, Heavy Machinery, Military vehicles / aircraft.
- NVQ / City & Guilds in Engineering discipline
- Proactive, can-do attitude and mind-set with the ability to operate within a team or as an individual
- Valid Driving Licence
