Essential
- Chartered Mechanical Engineer (IMechE or CIBSE)
- Minimum 10 -years' E&M Design experience within a rail environment (Preference is for strong LU domain knowledge)
- Significant understanding of E&M requirements within a rail environment
- Significant knowledge of current E&M technology
- Ability to interpret complex E&M issues and translate this into technical/project requirements
- Ability to lead a functional team of Mechanical Engineers, prioritise and manage their workload, whilst actively engaging with and supporting Principal Project Engineers who are themselves leading larger portfolios of work.
- interpret complex E&M problems and propose solutions
- Fluent in the use of and/or interpretation for industry recognised Mechanical modelling tools (Hevacomp, IES, 3D MEP revit, ventilation/heat calculation spreadsheet models, FDS etc.)
- Ability to interpret E&M designs, lead technical and lead integration workstreams
- Previous experience working in a design conultancy, client organisation (LU, DLR, NR etc), with team leadership responsbility and recognised technical capability
- CEng Mechanical Engineer (ImechE or CIBSE) with minimum 10 years experience, 5 of which should be post professional registration
Knowledge:
- Significant knowledge of design, construction, operation, maintenance and assessment of Mechanical and/or Electrical systems within a transport environment
- Significant working knowledge of relevant legislation and TfL, National and International standards in Electrical and/or Mechanical engineering. E.g. BS EN 7671, DMRB, Building Regs, relevant CIBSE, BSRIA and HVCA guides etc
- A Member of the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers or other relevant internationally recognised institution.
- Significant knowledge of Health, Safety and Environment considerations applicable to E&M Assets, e.g. CDM, Electricity at works regulations, management of health & safety at work regulations, L8 ACOP, F Gas regulations, pressure systems safety directive, water regulations, Gas safety regulations etc.
Skills:
- Skilled in the investigation of E&M problems and finding solutions.
- Able to commission and interpret the output from relevant modelling and software packages used for E&M services.
Experience:
- Experience of making responsible engineering decisions for Mechanical and/or Electrical assets
- Experience of being accountable for reviewing, approving and making recommendations for Mechanical and/or Electrical designs for equipment, installation, maintenance or decommissioning.
- Experience in providing functional leadership and managing stakeholders relating to Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering within an assigned delivery
