Job Summary
AECOM has experience in the managing and delivering highway and road projects for all levels of government and private industry. Our design services have involved us in some of the world’s largest interchanges and some of the busiest highways in the world and helped reconfigure local roads to make streets safer, and improve journey time reliability. We have worked collaboratively with other designers and contractors to successfully deliver complex surface transportation projects.
We are putting on open days across the region giving you an opportunity to meet with the Roads (highways & Streets) teams and discuss your career with local roads projects or large scale highway developments.

- Bath and North East Somerset
- Cardiff Council
- Highways England
- CORMAC/Cornwall Council
- Transport for London
Depending on your experience here are some of the skills we require:
- Post qualification experience in the delivery of traffic engineering, local transport, urban design/streetscape and local authority/municipal highway schemes
- Excellent technical and communication skills
- Preliminary design experience (detailed design/3D design experience desirable)
- Transportation modelling
- Experience of applying relevant design standards and local authority approval processes
- Ability to act as a task leader on single and multi-disciplinary projects
Currently we require:
Highways Technician, Senior Traffic/Highways Engineers, Principal Traffic Engineer and people with skills in Traffic Modelling/Microsimulation.

Minimum Requirements
We would like to hear from candidates who are able to offer experience and proficiency in two or more of the key areas;
- Project management or asset management
- Alignment design
- Drainage design
- Pavement design and refurbishment
- Signs and road markings
- Safety barrier
- Asset inspection
- Management of design and delivery of highway maintenance schemes
- Experience of working in a multidisciplinary environment, operating across a matrix of projects
- Experience of preparing written work
- Experience of preparing for and attending meetings with clients and/or statutory consultees
- Experience of working with HE processes (i.e. Project Control Framework) desirable
- Experience of working in the Design and Build sector particularly preparing tenders for contractors.
- A highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills
- Full awareness of Current Health and Safety Legislation and how it is applied to the design process.
- Willing to consider local and national secondments and short term overseas assignments
Preferred Qualifications
- Your experience will be the primary aspect that we will consider, however your educational background could be via various routes: BTEC, HNC/HND or degree level
- For some of our roles we will be looking for people to be Chartered/ Incorporated Engineer status (MICE and or MCIHT) or be working towards the qualification
- Full UK drivers licence
