Assistant Planner
Reports to: Planning Manager Contractual Location: Flexible – Home/Office - South West
Contract: Full Time / Permanent Hours: 40 Hours per week
Salary Range: 24k to 35k Safety-Critical: Yes
About us:
XEIAD is a Civil Engineering Consultancy specialising in Structures Asset Management Engineering and difficult access inspections of the Rail and Highway infrastructure with offices based across the UK.
Main Purpose:
We are looking to recruit an experienced Assistant Planner to work as part of the Rail team to assist with the successful delivery of allocated contracts, ensuring that all works are planned to be undertaken safely and in accordance with XEIAD Policies and Procedures
Key Responsibilities:
- Create Safe Work Packs in line with Network Rail Standard NR/L2/OHS/019
- Book Line Blockages through the GZAM and Planning4Delivery external platforms
- Maintain log of Safe Work Packs issued and returned and keep electronic copies of all returned
- packs
- Liaise with the Responsible Manager and operational teams on all planning matters
- Attend weekly internal planning meetings to support the Planner with the weekly route review
- Manage the Safe Work Pack flow process, liaising with contingent labour and other essential
- delivery suppliers
- Identify risks and mitigate against through discussions with PICs and Responsible Managers
- Participate in the management process to ensure that all aspects of track safety are taken into
- consideration when planning Safe Work Packs
- Collaborate with nominated PICs in the creation of SWPs in line with Network Rail planning
- standards
Essential Experience, Qualifications & Skills
- Hold current “Live” Safe System of Work competency
- Sentinel Personal Track Safety (PTS) competency
- Competent in the use of GZAM system for booking line blocks
- Competent to prepare SWP documentation
- Good interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
- A proactive and collaborative team member, who can work closely with colleagues and fit
- seamlessly into a delivery team with a dedicated approach to meeting project deadline
- Driving Licence – full, valid and clean
Desirable Experience, Qualifications & Skills
- Appreciation of the railway industry, particularly railway geography and network capability
- Ideally have experience in or hold Rail safety critical competence (COSS/PIC, ES, SWL1/2)
- Relevant experience of working in a railway operating environment
- Computer literate with a full working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
