Assistant Tester in United Kingdom

We are looking for Assistant Testers to join our teams across the UK- working in the following areas of the country
- Rochdale
- Grimsby
- Camberley
- Newport
Main Purpose and Responsibilities
Responsible for various duties associated with assisting Test Team Leaders in the testing and commissioning of signalling equipment. Undertaking intrusive trackside, interlocking and control centre verification and functional testing duties within own competence including, (but not limited to):
- Assist test team leaders to undertake trackside, interlocking and control centre testing duties.
- Application of test equipment, measuring devices and test straps, reporting of status of equipment associated with preparatory testing and commissioning of altered or new signalling equipment and systems.
- Supporting the tester in charge in the progression of testing as a team member including:
- Ensuring testing documentation is completed in accordance with the Testing & Commissioning plan and associated implementation strategy.
- Communicating technical information to other team members, testing staff and installation & other staff.
- Contribute to the improvements in testing procedures and working methods.
- Maintain IRSE Logbook and portfolio for evidence and undergo assessments in accordance with Company and industry Competence Assurance Scheme.
- Liaise with other departments and functions.
- Undertake other duties when requested within areas of competence.
- Work in accordance with GE/RT/8000 rule book.
- Comply with general administrative duties as contained and briefed in OSL’s employee handbook.
Qualifications and Experience
A solid understanding and awareness of:
- Basic Electrical & Electronic Theory
- Basic signalling technology or equivalent training programme BS1 & BS2
- Signalling equipment & systems
- Signalling standards techniques & processes including those applicable to:
- Signalling maintenance, signal maintenance testing (SMTH) & fault finding
- Signalling installation
- Signalling design
- Recognised practical training program or courses
- Electricity at work
- Personal track safety (PTS)
- Emergency first Aid
- Manual Handling
- Fire safety awareness
- Signal works testing module 5
- Hold IRSE licence category 1.3.150
- Effective safety communicator
