Associate Structures Director

This is a permanent position to join a leading Civils and Infrastructure firm working within their Structural Engineering team in Oxford (Didcot) as an Associate Director of Stuctures.
The firm is looking for a new team member to join their existing team of ten engineers and technicians working at the Didcot office. As Associate Director, you will be expected to work on projects varying in scale across most sectors, and help co-lead the team of structural engineers and technicians. You must be experienced and highly motivated to lead the structures team, and must be willing to take a project from inception and through all design and delivery phases. You will also be required to assist in the detailed design and ensure projects align with the designated standards, all whilst ensuring that they are delivered with adherence to deadlines and maintain profitability.
As an Associate Structural Director, you will be responsible to the Company Directors for the financial, technical and project management control of the structural aspect of projects. Furthermore, you must have keen mentoring skills and desires as you will work closely with junior engineers and technicians who will need appraisal and development. You must also have strong communication skills and you must liaise and attend meetings with clients, architects, subcontractors and other professionals. Lastly, you must have excellent problem-solving skills as you must check calculations, specifications, drawings and reports, as well as being mindful of the environmental impact of projects.
Job Specification:
- At least 7 years post-qualification experience in structural engineering design.
- Chartered Structural Engineer.
- Active client portfolio
- A sound understanding of the finances of a structural engineering department, for example the ability to control bookings, to handle project finances, invoicing, WIP and provisions.
- Expertise in maintaining an overview of entire projects and supporting the focus on appropriate level of detailed design.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Detailed knowledge of relevant technical legislation and design guidance best practice.
- Proficient in the use of design tools such as Tedds, Tekla, Revit, Masterseries
