Bid Writer
Location: Remote working with travel to various company offices when required
Salary: Dependent on experience
Sector: Rail, Highways, Infrastructure and Aviation
ROLE PURPOSE:
Ensuring highest the quality and consistency of all aspects of the bid submission, including PQQs/EOT/ ITTs and presentation content. Ensuring all bid documentation is clear, concise and compelling and delivered through a winning bid strategy.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Compile information and write bids across all divisions (Rail, Highways and Aviation)
- Thorough understanding of work winning procedures and processes including reviews
- Research capability to provide context and write tailored responses to clients and sectors ensuring latest thinking is reflected in the submission
- Strong communication and interview skills to work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to extract relevant information
- Able to turn technical information into work winning responses that reflect the client's aims and objectives
- Able to improve standard responses and write responses from scratch with input from SMEs
- Proof-reading of submission documents
- Critically review submission answers
- Develop and assess responses against evaluation criteria
- Develop a question breakdown and response structure and guide SMEs through a structured response template
- Contribute to capture plans
- Lead storyboarding and answer planning sessions
- Ensure PQQ/ITT feedback is incorporated into subsequent submissions and shared
- Work with the Bid Manager to identify SMEs and allocate actions for each aspect/question of the bid/PQQ
- Hold the overall responsibility for the content of submissions
- Contribute to bid strategy meetings and mid-bid review meetings identifying win themes, our strengths and appropriate evidence
- Ensure bids and PQQs submission content is saved in appropriate pools on Workspace as the bid and review process progresses
- Carry out interviews with SMEs to ascertain the added value, expertise and appropriateness of the content
- Compile information and write answers to quality questions for tenders and PQQs aiming to score the highest allocated marks for each question
- Take responsibility for submissions’ presentation and formatting ensuring that these comply with the submissions and Company guidelines
- Hold ‘answer workshops’ to formulate answers and gather evidence
- Review the technical submission in relation to English and grammar
- Reinforce and ensure compliance to the internal Work Winning Process
- Organise and set up review of the submission throughout various stages (Green, Amber, Red and Gold Reviews)
- Hold internal lessons learnt meetings for both successful and unsuccessful submissions
- Hold the overall responsibility for tender and PQQ quality of submissions
- Liaise with the Bid Coordinator regarding the upload of the submissions and tender clarification requirements
- Assist the Pre-Construction Manager with case studies, CVs, capability statements and award submissions, when required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, BEHAVIOUR AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Excellent IT skills and knowledge of word, excel and PowerPoint
- At least 3 years working on multi-million-pound construction submissions
- Strong command of English language verbal and written (formal and informal)
- Strong communications skills
- Excellent formatting and proofreading documents skills
- Exceptional organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks
- Experience in producing project case studies, project capability statements and brochures
- Desire for self-development and continuous self-improvement
