Samuel Knight are seeking an experienced Contractors Engineering Manager (CEM) to work for our highly reputable, principal contractor client at a new office in Birmingham.
Reporting to the Head of Engineering, the successful candidate will bring technical leadership to various project teams throughout their portfolio of Structural and Civils works, mainly within the Midlands but further afield when required.
You will have a wide-ranging experience of the railway industry ideally will be a specialist in one of our client’s core disciplines - Properties/Earthworks/Track/Structures - however good knowledge of other disciplines would also be advantageous.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Undertake Contractors Engineering Manager (CEM) duties in accordance with NR/L2/INI/02009 standards throughout the lifecycle of individual projects.
- Support various teams by offering best practice & technical guidance, across all phases of the project - estimating, design, pre-construction, project development and construction.
- Carry out the role of Contractors Responsible Engineer (CRE) where required.
- Take an active role in the development of the Contractors Responsible Engineer (CRE) capability within the business by assisting with development, mentorship and guidance to CRE candidates.
- Maintain & develop high standards in safety and quality.
- Support the regional management team to develop new and existing work streams
The successful candidate will hold a Degree in Civil Engineering and be a member of a suitable professional institution, will fully understand current safety legislation and be able to contribute to design, development and construction phases. In-depth & recent knowledge of Network Rail Standards and the Engineering Lifecycle of a project is a key requirement.
