£353.40 per day umbrella rate
£85 daily allowance (when staying away from home)
A number of Rail Earthwork Examiners are required to join a national team carrying out Earthwork exams across Scotland and LNW (London North West region). As an Earthworks Examiner you will be required to visit earthwork locations along the railway in order to carry out 065 compliant examinations using a handheld device (Electronic data base collection system). While initially required to work within your local rail territory, you may eventually radiate outwards staying on location. The contract will also require you to take part in the on-call rota.
As well as holding a degree or equivalent in Geology or Geotechnical Engineering, an ideal candidate will have a history of working on the railways and are in possession of a current PTS (preferred but no essential). An IWA can be arranged. The ability to work alone and efficiently is a critical component of this role, as well as a driving licence. The desired candidate must have sound knowledge of slope stability and failure points, as well as a can do attitude and be able to work proactively. The contract does have a bonus system in place that rewards those who over achieve.

Your portfolio of work will be within the Earthworks Examination (soil and rock slopes) section of the Civil Examination Framework Agreement.
