Equality Impact Assessment Specialist Rail Industry
8 week initial assignment
£500 per day
My client requires an experienced Equality Impact Assessment (EqIA) Specialist is sought to support the business fully discharge its statutory commitments in respect of undertaking EqIAs for various change schemes.
This role is working in the rail sector for an established train operating company.
Core Duties/Responsibilities
• Working closely with contributors from across the business, act as an author for a number of EqIAs for specific change schemes or programmes.
• Ensure that produced EqIAs are compliant, thorough, robust and written in a consistent, accessible style.
• Work with others to use and/or seek out a range of demographic and other available data to support robust justification within EqIAs.
• Support the EqIA review and sign off process for all EqIAs as required.
• Influence others to ensure that responsibilities in respect of EqIAs are understood and acted upon.
• Attend meetings specifically related to the change schemes or programmes as required to gain insight to ensure that the EqIA is sufficiently detailed and thorough.
• Regularly update any project governance groups on progress, escalating any concerns or issues.
• Where requested, support the business in understanding and embedded its responsibilities in respect of EqIAs, including in colleague training, data management and process management.
• Seek out best practice from other group/industry operators and incorporate into the planning process as appropriate.
Person Specification
• At least three years experience of in writing and reviewing compliant EqIA (or equivalent, such as Diversity Impact Assessments) documents.
• Ability to influence senior leaders within the business to support the delivery of EqIAs, ensuring others deliver inputs within required timeframes.
• Comfortable with manipulating and interpreting demographic and other forms of complex data and understanding how this applies to EqIAs.
• Able to communicate with clarity and confidence to a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
• Highly proficient level of written English with a natural attention to detail. Experience of writing documents to a prescriptive specification and style.
• Preferably educated to degree level.
• Self-motivator: responsive to managing time to deliver against mandated deadlines, including under pressure
• Works with discretion, including in the handling of sensitive and/or confidential information
• Hybrid working is acceptable though at least one/two days per week working in Stratford (London) expected
