Job Summary
The Estimator develops and continuously updates the Incentive Target Estimate for a sub-Project (HS2 Station or LUL Station) ensuring that the estimate fully reflects the specific constraints and challenges of the project, the build sequence and methodology and its impact on cost.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the validation of the SDSC Incentive target and comment accordingly
- Work with the planning and construction teams for the section to finalise the construction methodology, temporary works requirements, preliminaries, staff costs and the like and ensure this is integrated into the overall estimate
- Input cost data into the BIM model
- Work with the Risk Manager and section project team to develop the risk register for the project and ensure sufficient contingency is allowed within the budget to reflect the level of uncertainty in the project at each stage of its lifecycle
- Validate unit rates and construction methodology with key sub-contractors and ensure this is built into budget
- Continuously review and cost check the developing design and update the budget as necessary.
- Provide input into the evaluation of changes to the project

- Ability to apply IT systems relevant to estimating
- Ability to use BIM modelling to create cost estimate models
- Strong numerical and data analysis skills.
- Ability to use QRA and other sensitivity modelling software

Qualifications, Certifications and Experience required
Essential
- Minimum 10 years experience of project estimating ideally with a main or tier 2 contractor
- Past experience of major (£100m plus) projects
- Very strong knowledge of construction techniques and their implications on cost
- Good relevant degree in surveying or construction
- Experience in the railway environment.
- RICS or similar chartered status.
