An opportunity has arisen for a Fitter to join VolkerRail Plant working within the Hired Plant and Equipment (HPE) department.
The key duties will include:

Carry out maintenance, repairs, overhauls, etc. of plant and machinery to laid down technical and safety standards in line with personal certificated competence and for which you have been trained and authorised to use.

Work to relevant procedures and in accordance with current specifications, ensuring workplaces are kept clean and tidy.

Record all work carried out on the relevant document and sign off all work done.

Obtain materials from stores and return defective materials correctly labelled for warranty, repair or scrapping as required by laid down procedures.

Ensure that all work is carried out safely and in accordance with relevant Rules, Regulations, Group Standards and Work Instructions.

Delivery of Hired Plant and Equipment to sites using VolkerRail vehicles which fall within scope of personal licence and Road Vehicle Driving Permit.

Report any accidents, incidents, faults and hazards identified in the workplace, either on plant or equipment. Do not use any plant or equipment which is potentially hazardous and ensure colleagues are made aware of the potential danger.

Attend and contribute to monthly safety meetings.

Take reasonable care for the health & safety of yourself and of others who may be affected by your actions or omissions whilst at work.
Job Requirements
You will be self-motivated with a pro-active approach and have experience of working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines. Problem solving, communication and good interpersonal skills are a key requirement for this role. The candidate will also ideally have the following Experience/skill set:

Be either a trained apprentice in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or possess an NVQ level 3 (mechanical or electrical) or equivalent.

A responsible attitude and high level of safety awareness.

Be flexible in your approach and willing to work nights, weekends and lodge away from home.

Possess excellent communication skills.

Hold a valid driving licence.
