My Client, a global leader in the world of rail infrastructure and sets the benchmark for innovative and environmentally friendly technologies is currently seeking a Fleet Planner on a contract basis based in Birmingham
Purpose of the job:
Reporting to the Senior Fleet Maintenance controller the Fleet Planner will be a member of a 4-person team covering a 24/7 shift roster. The Fleet Planner will plan the work distribution across Traincare Centres to make efficient use of available resources to maximise fleet availability.
The Fleet Planner is required to meet the service demands of West Coast Traincare and its Customer's in a safe, cost effective manner, to the Quality and Performance Standards demanded.
Main duties and responsibilities will include:
- Schedule maintenance exams at the Traincare Centres in accordance with VMI requirements to maintain a consistently high fleet availability to meet the Operator's requirements.
- Ensure sufficient time has been allocated in the plan for preventative maintenance and repairs after considering Traincare Centre capacity.
- Prioritise work at the Traincare Centres to meet train availability requirements.
- React to train failures and infrastructure related issues in conjunction with the Operator to minimise impact on the Production plan.
- Communicate fleet availability/performance and the production plan to all areas of the Business.
- Liaise with the Fleet maintenance controllers on all planning matters to ensure that any special/urgent requirements have been considered and agree the long-term plan.
Desired Knowledge / Experience:
- The post holder shall have at least five years experience working in a depot or operational environment preferably with a planning background. Knowledge and understanding of the operational railway is key to this role.
