Salary: Grade 12 £51,305 to £54,674 per annum (plus a 20% market rate supplement).
Contract Type: Full Time, Time Limited Role.

The arrival of High Speed 2 (HS2) and Northern Powerhouse Rail (NPR) into Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Airport represents a once-in-a-century opportunity for the city.

This post will play a key strategic role in managing the Council’s involvement in the development and delivery of plans associated with HS2 and NPR, ensuring the right outcomes for the city. To do this, the postholder will develop, manage and successfully deliver a full range of highly complex activities in preparation for the delivery of HS2 and NPR into the city.

We are looking for an individual with extensive technical railway engineering and systems expertise, and experience of delivering a variety of complex railway and transport related projects within a partnership context.

You will also have excellent written and verbal communication and influencing skills; a track record of building effective partnerships at a senior level and working with senior managers and Elected Members; the ability to carry out financial planning, prepare compliant business plans, and understand, assimilate and communicate complex information in a non-technical way; and be able to work well under pressure.

The City Centre Growth and Regeneration Team provide the essential focus and drive in the delivery of a wide range of projects and initiatives that support the regeneration and ongoing growth of the city centre. The team work to promote Manchester as a place to live, work and visit; facilitating development and investment in the city centre, and encouraging businesses to relocate here, supporting the creation of new jobs, homes, infrastructure (including transport infrastructure) and facilities.

The team works with a wide range of partners in the public and private sector, and other local and national stakeholders, to ensure an integrated and comprehensive approach to achieving the Council’s growth objectives.

This post requires a relevant professional qualification e.g. Chartered Engineer, Transport Planning Professional or clearly able to demonstrate significant, highly relevant, equivalent experience.
