A specialist electrical company servicing the electrification and plant requirements within the rail industry, located in Woodland Road, Lyminge, Kent.

Due to increased growth, we are now recruiting for the following new position to join us;

M&E Estimator / QS / Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager - Rail

Full time 40 hours per week

Fuse Rail is a family-owned M&E contractor, based in Lyminge Kent, and operating across the south of England. We deliver a wide range of M&E contracts for Network Rail and we are looking to add an experienced estimator to the existing team.

The successful individual will report to the Projects Director and ensure accurate & timely tender and estimate returns for mechanical & electrical projects.

Experience and skills needed:

  • Established estimator with demonstrable experience
  • Construction experience, ideally on the railway
  • Commercial knowledge and awareness
  • Experience in estimating and/or quantity surveying including knowledge of applicable legislation and health, safety, quality, and environment industry standards
  • To be able to understand and action tender documentation (correspondence, drawings, specifications, etc.) in a concise, neat, and meticulous manner
  • Competent in creating and submitting tender queries and clarifications
  • To be able to survey projects with Clients and produce accurate estimates to complete the desired projects
  • Able to work to tight deadlines and manage your time effectively
  • Compilation of tender costs, outputs, and associated technical information arising from the preparation of a tender that meets the clients' requirements

You will be a highly motivated individual, career-driven, enthusiastic, and organised. You need to be able to work well with others in a team, but equally be able to work independently using your own initiative to problem solve. You will be good at building and maintaining working relationships with clients, suppliers, and colleagues and be approachable.

Excellent MS Office skills, well versed in the preparation of reports and information using packages such as Word, Excel, and Project.

HNC/HND in electrical engineering is desirable as well as good working knowledge of Network Rail and major principle contractor construction contracts. A full clean driving licence is required.

The post holder will be required to gain a Personal Track Safety Competence (PTS) which Fuse Rail will organise. This will require the post holder to pass a medical, drug and alcohol test.
