Job Summary
An opportunity has arisen for a number of Maintainer Operators to join VolkerRail Plant working within the On Track Machine (OTM) department in the North East/Midlands/East Midlands/East Anglia/Hertfordshire areas, applications are welcomed from candidates who live in these areas.
You will be responsible for ensuring that:
- Maintenance and routine safety checks are undertaken and recorded.
- Day to day management of safety involved with the operating and servicing of VolkerRail’s On-track machine (OTM) Fleet is carried out.
- All requirements of the work plan are implemented.
- All machine documentation, log books, worksheets, etc. are completed to the correct standard and provide, as required, the daily report of machine production and condition.
Job Requirements
You will be self-motivated with a pro-active approach and have experience of working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines. Problem solving, communication and good interpersonal skills are key requirements for these roles.
To be eligible to apply you must meet with the following criteria:
- Be either a trained apprentice in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or possess an NVQ level 3 (mechanical or electrical) or equivalent.
- Have demonstrable experience in fault finding, repairing and maintaining HGV vehicles.
- Be able to read engineering drawings/schematics with regards to fault finding.
- Be flexible in your approach and willing to work nights, weekends, bank holidays and lodge away from home.
- Hold a full UK driving licence.
- Possess excellent communication skills.
- A responsible attitude and high level of safety awareness.
Your role will take you to many varied locations across the UK, working as part of a close-knit team.
The entry level salary for these positions is £34,855 per annum and you will be required to follow a machine specific training programme which is linked to further salary increments. In addition to the base salary there is potential for overtime working which can result in on-target earnings in the region of £40,000 per annum.
