National Rail Director

Manchester, Leeds, Cardiff, Birmingham, London or East Grinstead (other UK locations may be considered)

Capita Real Estate and Infrastructure are looking to appoint a National Rail Director who shall lead the delivery of Rail Consultancy services to clients across the UK, including HS2 and Network Rail. This position is ideally suited for an individual who has previously held a national leadership post within the Rail sector.

Job Description:

National Rail Director responsible for the delivery of professional consultancy services to the rail industry throughout the UK. Currently our Rail sector offering comprises 200 plus staff across 6 UK offices with an annual turnover of £17m. The role requires national leadership from an established individual well known and connected in the rail sector. A representative selection of our clients include:

Network Rail, High Speed 2, TfL, ToCs, FoCs and Main Works Contractors.

Skills and Experience:

· Chartered status

· Strong industry knowledge and understanding of the concepts and practical application of multi-disciplined rail design, asset management, asset optimisation, whole life management and costing techniques.

· Experience of Strategic Business Planning in the rail sector would be advantageous.

· Demonstrable evidence of owning a P&L account.

· Experience and knowledge in the Digital Railway

· Ability to analyse performance trends and their overall impact on the capacity and capability of the railway

· Knowledge and ability to implement, communicate and influence good practise

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities will include:

· Leading Capita’s National Rail offering

· Leading the rail businesses in the provision of ; Design Services, Project Management, Cost Management, Asset Optimisation and Asset Management

· Working closely with other Capita Divisions to provide one holistic rail offering to the client.

· Support the development and implementation of whole life cost and investment planning practices, including asset modelling and prioritisation as well as integration with Capita’s Real Estate team.

Working Hours

The working hours will be 40.0 hours per week, Monday to Friday. As a Senior Member of the Management Team you will be expected to be flexible to meet deadlines and client requirements including travelling to meetings and sites for which you will not be entitled to overtime payments.

Pension

You will be automatically entitled to join the Capita Group Money Purchase Scheme at Tier One level which will facilitate matched contributions by the company up to 5% of the employee’s salary sacrifice. You are however able to invest further contributions in addition.

Company Car

You will be entitled to a company car (full maintenance and breakdown cover) or a car allowance depending upon your preference.

Car Allowance :– Allowances are available as an alternative to a Company Car and are calculated at 10% of a full time employee’s basic salary.

Death in Service Benefit

You are eligible for Death in Service benefit. The amount of death benefit that your dependants may receive is subject to Trustee approval and calculated at a rate of 2 times your basic salary.

Annual bonuses are awarded at the discretion of the Executive Board and dependant upon a combination of cumulative successes across the following criteria:

1. Infrastructure Divisions performance against Business Plan;

2. CREI Divisions performance against the overall Business Plan;

3. Capita Groups annual performance
