OLEC Supervisor

Location: Birmingham
What is the purpose of this role?

To supervisor the OLE team on site, ensuring that the team accurately install and maintain different style’s of Overhead Line Equipment, as per the design or NwR requirements. Liaising with the Construction Manager, ensuring standards are met and to give direction to the team in order to deliver a safe and cost effective program of works. Ensuring all works are compliant as per NwR standards/campaign change documents, confirming accurate design tolerance to the required standards in a challenging environment. Ensuring consistent and accurate standard of work is delivered in a timely manner and reported to the management team.

What will this role involve?
  • Assist in organising the activities, keeping the Supervisor/Construction Manager constantly updated on construction progress
  • Endeavour to achieve high levels of safety, performance, attendance and behavioural standards. Promote safe working practices and ensure implementation and compliance to the Amey Safety Management System.
  • To ensure that all contract, technical and administrative instructions are implemented.
  • To ensure that high standards of housekeeping is maintained within working environment.
  • Maintain regular and appropriate dialogue and contact with the Construction Manager and Project Manager’s in order to fully understand the Electrification projects aspirations and objectives.
  • To liaise with team and client members as necessary to ensure the efficient running of the project.
  • Promote and develop positive working relationships within Network Rail.
  • Conduct monthly safety briefings with construction staff.
  • Carry out regular safety checks and inspections as directed and close call reporting and regular VFL’s.
  • Carry out daily shift reports and provide a detailed view on the work carried out. Report any safety related issues or construction related activities that have been undertaken which resulted in issues or the prevention of works going ahead. Report any onsite technical queries to the engineering team for escalation to NwR.
  • Ensure any remedial works or repairs carried out on site are carried out in accordance with Rail Industry standard maintenance procedures and ensuring safe passage of electric traction when handing the assets back to the operational rail way.
  • Ensure any reactive maintenance carried out is promptly recorded & reported to the Management team in a timely manner
What are we looking for?
  • PTS
  • COSS
  • OLEC 3 complete
  • OTP core or knowledge of On track plant
  • Knowledge of risk assessment techniques and Experience of Risk and issue management
  • Must be able to drive
  • Flexibility with rostering and working shift pattens
  • Be able to work well under pressure for extended periods of time.
  • Computer literate

Experience

  • 5+years OLEMI equipment
  • OLEC 4 experience
  • Mark 1 experience
  • Mark 3B experience
  • UK1 experience, Series 1, Series 2 and UKMS
  • Familiarisation of ART 17th Edition Mewp’s
  • Must have a railway background and Working knowledge of the Rule Book.
  • Understanding of Railway Operating Environment, Railway Planning systems, cost control and requirements, rail infrastructure including interfaces between disciplines
