We are currently recruiting Engineers and Technicians to join our busy and expanding Rail, Bridges and Structures teams in our centrally located Bristol office. Our Bristol office has an established track record of successfully delivering major schemes.

Our modern office in the heart of Bristol is within easy reach of Temple Meads, Harbourside and Cabot Circus and comprises a vibrant and diverse mix of sectors and disciplines including Buildings & Places, Environment, Programme Cost Consulting and a large Transportation team including both Rail and Bridges disciplines. The team provides design, assessment, inspection, repair / remediation, construction support and management services on a wide range of transport infrastructure projects.

Our Bristol office forms part of a Central, South West & Wales region which comprises over 130 bridge engineers and technicians working seamlessly to deliver a wide range of challenging projects.

Our current portfolio of works comprises a diverse mix of local, national and international projects in both rail and road including numerous long-term frameworks.

A selection of our current and recent projects includes –

CORMAC – AECOM appointed as ‘strategic delivery partner’ providing numerous transportation services including bridges to Cornwall County Council on behalf of CORMAC; schemes include bridge replacement, bridge refurbishments and structures remediation.

Network Rail Western maintenance – AECOM routinely engaged to undertake remediation works to Network Rail’s structural assets includes, scoping reports, options reports, investigation findings reports and remedial strengthening and/or repairs through F001 to F003.

South Gloucestershire PSF framework – AECOM appointed as consultants for the PSF Framework undertaking structures examinations, assessments, investigations and remedial works to highways structures.

Forder Valley – We are current designing a four span semi-integral pre-stressed concrete structure on behalf of Plymouth City Council over the Bircham Valley to connect Brest Road with the new large signalised junction of Forder Valley Road and Novorossiysk Road.

Bristol East Junction Remodeling- AECOM are currently appointed as consultants at the Grip 3 and 4 Stage for the remodeling of the junction to the north of Bristol Temple Meads Station and are involved in design of the Civil, Telecoms and Electrical design associated with the work.

Old Oak Common Enabling Works- AECOM are currently engaged in the enabling works to Old Oak Common Depot to allow HS2 to construct a new underground station, this is a multidisciplinary project drawing on AECOM skills both in the UK and overseas.

Currently we require: Principal and Senior Bridge Engineers Rail Civil and Structural Engineers at all levels, Senior Bridge BIM/CAD Technician

Minimum Requirements

We would like to hear from people who are able to offer experience in the following areas;

  • Experience with bridge and related structural inspection assessment and design schemes..
  • Experience in road and/or rail projects.
  • Take a leading role in the design of major civil engineering structures.
  • Inspection, assessment and strengthening of road/rail bridges and other structures.
  • Experience in delivering designs through Highways England and Network Rail standards.
  • Technical report writing
  • Project management of schemes including: client reporting, programming, resource planning and commercial management.
  • Previous exposure with clients of both national and local authorities, together with major contractors.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Your experience will be the primary aspect that we will consider, however your educational background could be via various routes: BTEC, HNC/HND or degree level
  • For some of our roles we will be looking for people to be Chartered/ Incorporated Engineer status (MICE and or MIStructE) or be working towards the qualification
  • Full UK driver’s license
