AECOM’s Rail, Bridges and Structures division team in Birmingham are holding an Open Day on Tuesday 26th February at the MacDonald Burlington Hotel, Burlington Arcade, 126 New St, Birmingham, B2 4JQ

Our Birmingham office has an established track record of successfully delivering major transport schemes. Our modern office in the heart of Birmingham has good transport links and accommodates a multi-disciplinary transportation design centre with skill sets including ; Electrical Engineering, Bridge Engineering, Civil Engineering, Project Management, CAD/BIM capabilities, Telecoms Engineering and more.

We are now looking to enhance and grow the division with individuals who possess a sound technical background and share our enthusiasm and determination to support our expanding workload and future growth plans.

Whilst anybody from an Engineering background is welcome to the Open Day, we have a specific interest speaking to Rail Project Managers, Bridge & Civil Engineers, Rail Civil Engineers, CAD/BIM Technicians, Telecoms Engineers (Rail) and Electrical Engineers (Electrification/OLE Engineers).

Our Transportation division in Birmingham are working on a variation of exciting projects that include;

  • HS2 Phase 2B – AECOM are currently developing sections L1 and L2 for Leeds leg south and East Midlands. We provide the expert engineering and environmental support needed to take forward the development of the route from the West Midlands to Yorkshire to support in the development of a hybrid Bill.
  • SWTRA (South Wales Trunk Road Agent) – AECOM appointed as consultants for SWTRA provide engineering technical solutions to many aspects of the motorways, trunk roads and associated assets throughout the South Wales region.
  • Forder Valley – We are current designing a four span semi-integral pre stressed concrete structure on behalf of Plymouth City Council over the Bircham Valley to connect Brest Road with the new large signalised junction of Forder Valley Road and Novorossiysk Road.
  • Celtic Manor – We are currently working with Celtic Manor Resort to develop a solution for a second bridge over the M4 to provide additional traffic capacity in and out of the developing site. The bridge is proposed as a single 49.9m span integral composite structure.
  • Birmingham Airport – working with BIA to provide technical support ranging from inspection through to design of refurbishment works to car parks, buildings and other structures.
  • Heathrow – working closely with HAL to provide inspection and investigation services to large portfolio of existing bridges and structures.

We would like to hear from people who are able to offer experience and proficiency in two or more of the key areas;

  • Bridge Engineering – Design, Inspection and Asset Management
  • Experience working with Network Rail or Highways England
  • Railway Project Management Experience
  • Railway Electrification/OLE Experience
  • Telecoms Engineering
  • Ideally you will be Chartered within your relative skill set or working towards this
  • Experience within a design consultancy would be preferred
  • CAD/BIM Experience within Transportation
