What is the purpose of this role?
The Principle Environmental Consultant will be a technical lead for our Environment & Sustainability Consulting team, providing high level support and advice to design and construction teams across a variety of different sectors including rail, highways and utilities. Duties will include managing the production of contract delivery plans and method statements, designing winning environmental management solutions for projects and tenders and providing expert advice in the fields of environment and sustainability to help Amey achieve its aim of creating better places to live, work and travel. You will work as part of our growing national team of environment and sustainability professionals and provide support to junior staff members.
What will this role involve?
* Support projects to meet legal, technical and client requirements by providing guidance on best practice and developing environmental solutions. * Liaise with clients on technical matters to deliver solutions. * Advise on environmental aspects of projects such as but not limited to EMS, environmental assessment, environmental mitigation design, environmental studies, environmental risks, construction mitigations, permits and consents. * Take a key role in promoting key sustainability areas with our clients such as carbon, social value, climate change and weather resilience * Prepare and review reports to respond to the relevant statutory body and Local Authorities regarding environmental scoping and assessment reports, planning submissions and permitting for projects, Environmental Management Plans etc. * Advise clients on environmental compliance and risks to their projects and contracts; develop innovative solutions for the management of their projects and contracts. * To contribute with other professions in the Business Development process in producing information for PQQs and Tenders, developing scope and fee proposals for projects. * Manage budgets and programme of projects. * Be a pro-active member of the E&S team, supporting junior staff with professional development.
What are we looking for?
* Minimum of ten years' experience as an Environmentalist with experience in EIAs, SEAs, environmental management, environmental legislation or other environmental area. * Experience of working on rail infrastructure projects preferred. * Relevant post-graduate degree; * Chartered Environmentalist or equivalent status; * Strong technical skills and experience in a relevant specialism; * CEEQUAL Assessor or experience of managing the delivery of CEEQUAL assessments; * Good communication and presentation skills. * Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary environment. * Able problem solving and technical realisation skills. * Sound knowledge of environmental legislation. * Clean driving Licence.
