Job Summary
An opportunity has arisen for a Plant RRV Operator to join the POM team within VolkerRail Plant.
You will be:
- Responsible for safe operations and carrying out operating daily and weekly checks of Possession Only Machines (POM’s) to laid down technical and safety standards.
- Record all work carried out on both maintenance and operations.
- Assist with fitters on the maintenance and repairs of the RRV’s.
- Assist in keeping the workplace tidy.
- Train and operate new types of equipment as per the department’s requirements/circumstances are mandatory upon the post holder.
Job Requirements
You will be self-motivated with a pro-active approach and have experience of working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines. Problem solving, communication and good interpersonal skills are a key requirement for this role.
Your role will take you too many varied locations across the UK, working as part of a close team.
To be eligible to apply you must meet with the following criteria:
- To hold either CPCS or equivalent on both tracked and rubber machines above 10t.
- Demonstrable experience of working with modern RRV plant, including operational and basic maintenance activities.
- Experience of maintaining RRV’s would be highly desirable.
- Be able to work alone and as part of a team.
- Be flexible in your approach and willing to work nights, weekends and lodge away from home.
- Hold a full driving licence.
- Possess excellent communication skills.
- A responsible attitude and high level of safety awareness.
If your application is successful, you will also need to pass an assessment which will measure your concentration, ability to react quickly, ability to operate hand and foot controls, ability to stay calm under pressure, and your ability to understand basic mechanical principles.
