Our client are currently seeking experienced Rolling Stock shunters & groundstaff to prepare freight trains for contracts across the country. The role will enable the freight trains to move to & from the mainline railways between deliveries.

Key deliverables of the role:

• Ensure safe application of the required work by adhering to our clients safety policy at all times
• Work efficiently to allow our clients freight trains to have as timely turnaround as possible
• Deliver an excellent service and carry out the responsibilities to a high standard
• Form an excellent team spirit and work well as a team & individually

Key responsibilities of the role:

• Flexible and adaptable to the changing demands of this varied role (Shift patterns, freight load, specific duties)
• Ensure that the freight wagons and locomotives in your responsibility are preapred correctly for service
• All wagons not in service to be correctly serviced and signed off
• Testing of brakes (working closely with the freight train driver)
• Adhere to train and rail industry quality standards, ensuring all work meets required policy
• Coupling and Uncoupling of freight wagons, load examination.
• Hand signalling duties in the depot to facilitate moving of trains and wagons
• Show a professional and positive attitude to our clients customers.

The successful applicant will be an experienced Railway professional, and ideally will have experience of train preperation. They will have a valid PTS certificate and be Rules & Regulations competent.
