Rail Warranty Manager in Northampton, Northamptonshire, United Kingdom
Rullion require a Warranty Manager to work with a world leading Rolling Stock Company, based out of their rail depot in Northampton.
This is a 12 month contract, that will be split between remote working and being site based on a weekly basis.
This is a great opportunity for someone with Warranty experience that has worked either in Rolling Stock, Aerospace or related industries.
The rate is negotiable (within reason) and has been determined by the client to be outside of IR35, therefore we can engage with Limited Company contractors.
Role:Warranty Manager
Purpose of the Role
To provide warranty processes for the designated fleet. To collate technical component failure information and to prepare claim packs to support material warranty claims and processes for the Maintenance and Aftersales Materials / Procurement Department. To liaise with suppliers to ensure that the receive all the technical information to identify root causes of component failures and identify possible technical solutions. To monitor at component level the reliability of the new trains.
Principal Accountabilities
* Responsible for collating all relevant technical information as required by the business and the needs of suppliers to ensure that warranty claim information (packs) are delivered for every component failure.
* Responsible for tracking the repairs and warranty administration process for all components through to a successful conclusion.
* Responsible for monitoring the technical reliability for the new trains at component level and identifying if there are endemic / epidemic component failures.
* Responsible for working with and supporting the Performance Team and Fleet Head of Materials / Materials Manager in processing defective materials through the warranty and repairs supply chain within internal control requirements.
* To ensure that the warranty is valid and that the claim requested is covered by the contractual warranty.
* Compile an "Outcome report" database.
* To maintain regular communication with depot management, SAG warranty representative and the suppliers to satisfy the timely conclusion of warranty claims.
* Take a proactive role in addressing quality concerns and repair work with the suppliers (Supply chain) to ensure that preventive measures are pursued. Monitor and escalate if not actioned.
* Responsible for final review of repair and warranty outcome reports with the Fleet Head of Materials / Materials Manager
* Work with Fleet Head of Materials / Materials Manager and Fleet Engineering / Technical representatives to assist in coordination with investigative efforts; stress root cause and corrective action on all repairable products, in particular warranty-failed products
* Use the principals of reliability, availability, maintainability and safety (RAMS) and life cycle costs (LCC) to create key performance indicators to identify improvements to maintenance principals and component configuration
* Create a claims management process to enable the project to invoice all additional spend outside of the LCC
* Develop reports with the depot that identify the status of all warranty issues and significant warranty trends
* Undertake any other duties as and when required
Knowledge and Experience
* Must have relevant engineering degree or equivalent experience, with minimum of three years experience in a rolling stock stores or engineering position
* Must have experience of technical reliability monitoring and associated techniques, preferably within the engineering/rail sector
* Ability to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of rolling stock maintenance techniques, processes and implementation and procedures also involving IT, planning systems and railway operating systems
* Experience in negotiating or assisting negotiations on major contracts
* Must have previous experience of dealing with suppliers and commercially sensitive issues, preferably within the engineering/rail sector
* Detailed knowledge of warranty processes and materials management procedures
* Ability to operate and develop databases
* Knowledge and experience of Lean Management
* Excellent communication skills both oral and written
* Good knowledge of IT systems/software
