Auckland Transport keeps Auckland moving. We get you where you want, when you want. Our Strategy and Planning Division plays an integral role in the delivery of our work. The division is tasked with developing and planning innovative transport solutions for a growing Auckland, providing the forward strategy and planning framework. Within this division sits a team of planners that are a key component to ensuring land use and transport integration in all planning matters.

We have a vacancy for a Strategic Advisor (Rail) within our Strategic Transport Planning Team.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing strategic rail advice and guidance to support the achievement of AT's strategic rail objectives.
• Review and advise on the optimal location and integration of rail stations on the network and develop a strategic investment programme
• Preparing business cases for rail development, level crossings removal, station and network development.
• Managing strategy and programme development projects as required, including co-ordination of concept designs
• Providing rail planning leadership, support and advice across a wide range of transport strategies, policies and projects

To be considered for this position you must have an economics, transport planning, engineering or other similar degree. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years' experience with knowledge of transport planning and modelling, including significant rail experience.

Experience of the New Zealand rail environment is preferred. You will have confidence in communicating and working with a diverse range of stakeholders, and have demonstrable influencing skills. You will be able to lead projects effectively using your strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
